An exclusive service from the best safari tour operator in Kenya. This session will provide you with an overview of the adventures that lie ahead, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the experiences to come.
Morning: Nairobi National Park
Your first stop is Nairobi National Park, a unique and iconic wildlife reserve situated just a short drive from Nairobi’s bustling city center. Established in 1946, the park spans 117 square kilometers and is notable for being one of the few wildlife reserves in the world located so close to a major city. As you embark on your game drive, you’ll have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and numerous bird species. The park’s diverse habitats—ranging from savannahs and wetlands to forests—offer a fascinating glimpse into Kenya’s rich biodiversity, all set against the backdrop of Nairobi’s skyline....
Next, you’ll travel to the Giraffe Centre, located in the Karen area next to the historic Giraffe Manor Hotel. Established in 1979 by the Leslie-Melville couple, the Giraffe Centre plays a crucial role in the conservation of the Rothschild giraffe. Originally, there were only about 130 Rothschild giraffes in the wild. Thanks to the Centre’s breeding program, the population has now grown to around 500. At the Giraffe Centre, you’ll have the chance to hand-feed these gentle giants with specially provided pellets, offering a memorable and educational experience.
Later: Karen Blixen Museum
Your final destination for the day is the Karen Blixen Museum. This historic farmhouse, located at the foot of the Ngong Hills, was once the home of Danish author Karen Blixen and her Swedish husband, Baron Bror von Blixen-Finecke. The property gained international fame through the film adaptation of Blixen’s autobiography, “Out of Africa,” which won an Oscar. Built in 1912 by Swedish engineer Ake Sjogren, the house was purchased by Blixen and her husband in 1917. It was a working coffee farm, with 600 out of 6,000 acres used for coffee cultivation. After Blixen’s return to Denmark in 1931, the property changed hands several times before being purchased by the Danish government in 1964 and given to Kenya as an independence gift. The museum offers an intriguing look into Blixen’s life and the history of the estate....
