Nairobi Arrival

All international inbound flights should be booked to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon your arrival, regardless of the time or airline, please clear customs and immigration, collect your luggage, and proceed to the paging area outside the terminal. There, you will find our Safari/Airport representative holding a pager displaying the DK Grand Safaris logo along with your surname.

After a warm welcome, our representative will assist you with your luggage and escort you to your vehicle for transfer to your city hotel, where you will check in for an overnight stay.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast at your city hotel, you will meet your Concierge in the lobby. They will provide a detailed briefing on the logistics of your safari, address any questions you may have, and present you with welcome gifts. If you have excess luggage, you can store it at the hotel until your return to Nairobi.

You will then embark on a scenic road trip to Amboseli National Park, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, particularly the stunning backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain at 19,340 feet. Amboseli is also famous for its impressive herds of elephants, largely due to the pioneering work of Dr. Cynthia Moss. Amboseli National Park

The next day promises to be a highlight as you explore the diverse terrains of Amboseli National Park. You’ll traverse seasonal lakes, marshlands, open plains, lava-strewn thorn bushes, and acacia woodlands, all while enjoying the expert guidance of your private Driver/Guide, who is skilled at positioning the safari jeep for the perfect “National Geographic shot.”

Day 8

Entebbe City

Breakfast will be served at the camp or lodge, followed by check-out. You will then be transferred to the airstrip for your morning flight to Entebbe, Uganda, with a stopover in Nairobi or via Kisumu city. Upon arrival at Nairobi Wilson Airport, our concierge team will meet you and arrange lunch at a city restaurant. Afterward, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound flight to Uganda.

Entebbe, located about 35 kilometers from Kampala on the shores of Lake Victoria, offers a relaxed ambiance and a slower pace of life. In 1890, Captain Lugard of the British East Africa Company established a camp on Kampala Hill. The arrival of the railway line from Mombasa in 1901 spurred Kampala’s development into Uganda’s trading center. In 1905, the capital was moved from Kampala to Entebbe.

Day 9

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This morning, you will awaken to the breathtaking sunrise casting golden hues over the blue waters of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake. Your room offers an excellent view of this serene landscape, setting the tone for an unforgettable day. After checking out, you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast, fueling up for the adventures ahead.

Following breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight to Kihihi Airstrip. Please be aware that the departure time for this flight may change based on weather conditions, and you will be kept updated accordingly.

Upon your arrival at Kihihi Airstrip, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide, who will present you with a picnic lunch. If your flight is early, a delightful late lunch awaits you at the lodge. The drive from the airstrip to the lodge takes less than two hours, winding through charming towns and vibrant villages where locals engage in farming—cultivating coffee, tea, bananas, maize, cassava, yams, and more....

Day 10

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early morning breakfast at the lodge, you’ll either be transferred or take a scenic walk to the ranger’s station for an essential pre-gorilla trekking briefing. Depending on the assigned gorilla family, your trek may begin directly at the ranger’s headquarters or at a different starting point accessible by your safari vehicle.

As you embark on this exhilarating adventure, staying hydrated is key, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Wear comfortable boots suitable for the steep and often muddy slopes, and don’t forget a light rain jacket, as the weather in Bwindi National Park can be unpredictable. Walking sticks are available at the park headquarters or the lodge for those who might need extra support....

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and be transferred to Kihihi Airstrip, where you’ll board your scheduled flight to Entebbe International Airport. This flight offers a scenic view of the breathtaking Ugandan landscape as you ascend, providing a perfect final glimpse of the region’s natural beauty.

Upon arriving at Entebbe International Airport, you will have a layover before your connecting flight to Nairobi. During this time, we recommend enjoying lunch at the airport. Uganda Gorilla Trekking Rules:

  1. Keep Your Voice Low: Maintain a quiet demeanor to avoid disturbing the gorillas and their natural habitat.
  2. Do Not Litter in the Forest: Please respect the environment by disposing of any waste properly. Littering is strictly prohibited.
  3. Do Not Touch the Gorillas: For your safety and the well-being of the gorillas, touching them is not allowed.
  4. Participants Must Be 15 Years or Older: Due to the nature of the trek and the behavior of the gorillas, participants must be at least 15 years of age.
  5. Flash Photography is Not Allowed: To avoid startling the gorillas, flash photography is prohibited. Please use natural light only.
  6. Viewing Time is limited to One Hour: To minimize disturbance, the time spent observing the gorillas is restricted to one hour.
  7. Group Size Limit: Each gorilla group is trekked by a maximum of eight guests per day to ensure a more intimate and respectful experience.
  8. Remain Calm if a Gorilla Charges: In the unlikely event that a gorilla charges, stay calm. Do not run or shout, as this can provoke further aggression.
  9. No Eating, Drinking, or Smoking Near the Gorillas: To maintain a clean and safe environment, consuming food or beverages, and smoking is not permitted near the gorillas.
  10. Book Your Permits Well in Advance: Due to high demand, it’s essential to secure your gorilla trekking permits as early as possible.
  11. Consult Your Guide for Toilet Needs: If you need to use the toilet, please consult your trekking guide for assistance and guidance on the appropriate procedures.
  12. Maintain a Safe Distance: Keep a distance of at least 32 feet (10 meters) from the gorillas. They may occasionally come closer, but maintaining this distance is crucial for your safety and their comfort.
