Kigali City/ Volcanoes National Park
You will visit the Kandt museum, see old Kigali and the craft centers then visit the genocide memorial site. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide; learn about other genocides in the world and how this country has dealt with that past. Tour more and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience. Lunch will be served in Kigali town. Later, depart by road to Ruhengeri. It’s an approximately 21/2 hours driving time to get to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3
Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Trekking
Trekking starts at the cultivated foothills of the Virunga’s and gets somehow immersed as you get higher. Later on you will get close with one of the Gorilla families assigned to, and your dream adventure comes true. After viewing the gorillas for an hour you will trek back to the starting point, you will be transferred to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure at the lodge.

Trekking Rules

- Keep Your Voice Low: Maintain a respectful volume to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
- Don’t Litter: Protect the forest environment by not leaving any trash behind.
- Do Not Touch the Gorillas: Maintain a safe distance to ensure their well-being.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be 15 years or older.
- No Flash Photography: Flash can startle the gorillas; please use natural light.
- Viewing Time: You are allowed one hour to observe the gorillas.
- Group Size Limit: A maximum of eight guests are allowed per trekking group each day.
- Stay Calm if Charged: If a gorilla charges, do not run or shout; remain calm.
- Face Masks required: wearing a mask is mandatory.
- No Eating, Drinking, or Smoking near Gorillas: To ensure their safety and comfort, these activities are prohibited.
- Book Early: Gorilla permits are in high demand, so advance booking is essential.
- Toilet Needs: Consult your trekking guide for assistance if you need to use the restroom.
- Maintain Distance: Keep a distance of at least 32 feet from the gorillas; they may approach you occasionally.
